Writing Homework...this week I will send home an activity on Tuesday and Thursday for each student to complete. The homework is due the following day, Wednesday and Friday. I've been receiving homework here and there from the students. Please help teach them the importance of completing a task and turning in their work.

In Writing Workshop this week...
We are having a free writing week while some students finish snowman stories and I finish assessments. Next week we will begin writing our Fairy Tales.

In Word Work:
This week we are focusing on the sound -ur, -ir and -er (all say "er").

Spelling words: church, turn, first, girl, her, summer
Challenge words: Texas, quarter
Sight word Vocabulary: your, down, friend, who, them

In Math...
We are learning about 2D and 3D shapes. We began the unit by doing a shape sort and discussing the attributes of some 2D shapes. Please continue to work on identifying coins and values with your child. I will send home an assessment each student completed last week to give you an idea of what they need to work on.

In Social Studies...
We are learning about our great state, Texas! We are making a Texas book all about the symbols and landmarks in our state. We will finish our unit next week with Chili Cookoff. Thank you Kathleen Trail for volunteering to make the chili!

Have a great week!
