This week in Reading Workshop we will be learning about how strong readers understand what they read. We will work on reading for enjoyment and reading to learn.

This week in Writer's Workshop we will be wrapping up our focus on creative writing (imagination stories). We will complete the writing process and share the stories we've written.

In Word Work this week we are focusing on the High Frequency word list. There will be no test. The students will be assessed on reading of the words, spelling (pre-test) and using the words in their writing.
Words: at, because, be, been, but, by, came, come, his, house, how, I, if, in, into, is, off, on, one, other, our, out, over, said, up, us, very, was, we, went, were, what

In Math this week we are revisiting estimating, compairing and ordering weight, mass and capacity. We will use balences to weigh difference objects with non-standard forms of measurement such as teddy bear manipulatives and beans. **Please send me an email with your child's birth weight and height. We will be using this information on Wednesday to order and compare the students as babies!**

In Science this week we will wrap up our unit on Plants. We will discuss what all plants need to survive, life cycle of a plant and the parts and functions of plants. On our field trip we will learn more about plants and their functions. The students will have a fun little take-home project that they will complete at the farm. **Please let me know if you plan on meeting us at the farm. So far, Mr. Menke, Mr. Burrow, and Mrs. Duff have let me know they are coming.**

Have a great week!
