This week in Reading Workshop...
Take home readers will be a little different. I will send home an assignment sheet that will provide directions on what to do each night. Monday nights will be devoted to practicing spelling and sight words. Take home readers will go home Tuesday and be returned Friday.

In Writer's Workshop...
We are working on our Fairy Tales. Our goal is to share our Fairy Tale with the class by the end of this week! The students are thinking of original ideas and some are taking two different fairy tales and "smashing" them together. I can't wait to hear what they've come up with.

In Word Work...
Rule: (ou) sound
The (ou) sound in the initial or medial position is spelled ou as in out.
The (ou) sound in the final position is spelled ow as in cow.

Spelling words: ouch, house, down, now, clown, loud
Challenge words: valentine, heart
Sight Word Vocabulary: father, when, home, into, after

In Math...
We are finishing our unit on Geometry. Today we learned about and explored 3D shapes. We made a class chart and discussed the attributes of 5 different 3D shapes.

In Social Studies...
We are wrapping up our Texas Unit and moving on to our US symbols unit. We will be discussing our nations history and symbols. We will also learn about famous Presidents as we approach Presidents day.

Have a great week!
