This week in Reading Workshop we will focus on learning about Expository Text. We read Armadilly Chili by Helen Ketteman today. We learned that expository text gives us information and/or tells us how to do something.
In Writing workshop this week we are focusing on Partnerships. We are learning to work with our partners for a purpose, stay on task and accomplish our goal. We will also be discussing how to make our stories about one subject instead of going on and on.
In Word Work we are studying the (e) sound at the end of a word spelled with a y.
The long (e) sound at the end of a multisyballic word is spelled y as in baby.
Regular words: baby, very, windy, story, family, money
Enrichment words: company, delivery, crunchy, perfectly, mystery, ordinary
Challenge: chicken, incubator
Word Wall: one, here, asked, their, take
In Math this week we will begin working on subtraction through problem solving. We will learn strategies to use to help us solve problems that involve subtraction.
In Science we are learning about animals. We will focus on reptiles and amphibians this week. We will learn about what makes them unique (characteristics or adaptations) and their life cycles.
Have a great week!
Mrs. Caballero
